About Us
J&K Farms is located 15 miles south of Memphis, Tx. Our farm consists of 75% irrigated and 25% dryland cotton and peanuts. All irrigation is applied with pivot sprinkler systems. We have mostly irrigated cotton planted in a rye cover crop. Our sandiest soils are planted in peanuts on a three year rotation. We feel that no-till practices has greatly improved erosion problems from wind and water in our sandier soils. The no-till farming practices also leaves more time to spend with family.

Agricultural technology advances very rapidly and we strive to stay knowledgeable on the advancements being made. We have used satelite guidance systems for several years this greatly reduces the overuse of chemical and fertilizer. Three years ago J&K Farms made a change from stripper harvesting to picker harvesting. This change has increased the value of our cotton crop and leaves more organic matter in the field. Our irrigation systems are equipped with low evaporation nozzles to help conserve water. With new cotton seed varieties and technology our no-till irrigated yields are continuing to increase yearly. Some yields exceeding 4.5 bales per acre.
